What is a Tithe?

A tithe (10% of our income) is a frequently referenced starting point when it comes to faithful giving. It appears primarily in the Old Testament portion of the Bible, but the practice is affirmed by Jesus in Matthew 23:23.

The Bible teaches that we are stewards who have been entrusted with God’s resources. God’s people are expected to offer God our first and our best. The emphasis in Scripture is to treat everything as God’s property and to hold nothing back when God asks. Presenting tithes and offerings is a means by which we demonstrate our obedience to God’s finance plan for His church and the sincerity of our faith to give as God gave, sacrificially.
