CHILDREN

“Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.” Matthew 19:14

North Flushing Baptist Church loves children just as Jesus did. Our purpose is to reach children with the gospel of Jesus Christ and to assist parents in raising children in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Ephesians 6:4   Each of our ministries offers age-appropriate teaching, training, and activities with the goal of bringing children to begin a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and then to daily grow and strengthen that relationship. Please take a moment to review our Children Ministry information below to assist you in knowing what we offer in connecting your children with well trained volunteers and in making good friends.

We encourage you to register your little ones into our KidCheck safe check–in system. This is not required but recommended to save you time. Otherwise we will be glad to assist you when you arrive.

Awana

Our weekly Bible clubs meets 6:30 – 8:15 p.m. each Wednesday, September through May.

AWANA stands for “Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed” as in 2
Timothy 2:15. The mission of Awana is “to reach boys and girls with the gospel of Christ and train them to serve Him.”  Awana ministers to 2-year olds (Puggles), 3 to 5-year-olds (Cubbies), Kindergarten – 2nd grade (Sparks) and 3rd – 6th grade (Truth and Training). Each club has a large group time, which involves a Bible lesson, handbook time, when they will memorize and recite Scripture, snack time, and game time.  Awards are earned for achievements throughout the year.  Theme nights throughout the year add to the excitement as well as special events such as the Grand Prix Race and the end-of-year carnival.

Discipletown

Our children’s worship service begins at 11:00 Sunday morning. Discipletown focuses on helping children mature as disciples of Christ.  Through creative and exciting activities, skits and puppets, music and lessons, children are presented with truth for building a Biblical worldview, tools for developing Christ-like character in all areas of life, as well as steps for demonstrating conduct that is honoring to God and helpful to others.

Small Groups

Our small groups for children meet Sunday morning at 10:00.  Children begin by all joining together for singing and sharing, then divide up by age/grade for a Bible lesson and coordinating activities. Children will have the opportunity to learn from God’s Word while developing and strengthening relationships.

Children’s Choir

Each Sunday evening at 6:00 (during the adult evening worship time) 3-year-olds through 6th graders meet for a special time of emphasis on Christ-centered music and developing musical skills.  Time is spent focusing on the scriptural message of the music as well as rehearsing for the purpose of presenting the music in a worship service, giving children the opportunity to minister to others through music.  Reflecting on the message of the music also reinforces knowledge and understanding of scriptural truths.  Bi-annual musical productions are a fun and  exciting way for children to use their talents in service to the Lord and as a means of reaching out with the gospel of Christ. No special musical ability is required, all are welcome!
